TOES Newsletter

Public Meeting - Wednesday 5th March

As advised in our December Newsletter, TOES will be holding a Public Meeting to update members on progress to date. In particular, we will reveal key aspects of a 10+ hectare foreshore restoration feasibility study commissioned by Transit.

This is potentially the most exciting public works improvement to be undertaken in the Onehunga area within living memory. Driven by local community advocacy, it is achievable, affordable and within our grasp.

But it has the potential to slip away if we do not get local and national political buy in to make it happen. This commitment is needed by 30 April 2008.

Please do come along to find out why, show your support, listen and have your say.

Urgent - please show your support this Thursday

TOES is making a presentation to the Auckland City Council regarding the Westward Shift of SH20.

December update and plans for 2008

Dear Members

Just a brief note to wish all members a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a happy New Year.

We look forward to providing you all with a full and detailed update by way of a public meeting around February/March next year.

Westward Ho!

Mangrove Management Submission Opportunity

We have an opportunity to make submissions on Mangrove Management to the Auckland Regional Council. This provides us with a further opportunity formally restate community goals for the area i.e. as the entry point to Auckland City, the Onehunga coastal edge needs to be transformed from a motorway corridor into a gateway landscape.

TOE's believes that the "Auckland Regional Plan: Coastal" should be changed to permit the restoration of the Onehunga foreshore west of SH20 and support the Community Plan to return Onehunga to a seaside town much as it was prior to SH20 covering the natural seashore.
