VENUE:

§  Okahu Bay (Auckland to Ian Shaw Park)

§  Manukau Harbour (Railway Lane to Mangere Bridge)

 

FESTIVAL:

Waterfront Reserve Mangere Bridge, Auckland

Cultural Groups, children's rides, stalls, various performers, art displays etc.

 

HIGH TIDE:

10.50am          Waitemata

2.00pm            Manukau

 

COSTS:

$20 per paddler - $120 per team includes meal and refreshments & T shirt. Early registration fees. Add $10 per paddler reg received after 4th Feb 2012.

 

COURSE:

Start at Okahu Bay head past Ladies Bay, right turn into Tamaki estuary to Auckland Rowing Club.

Waka place on trolley's or single axle trailers, push through Panama Rd to Portage Rd, Sales yards Rd to Manukau Harbour - Railway Lane Otahuhu.

Paddle from Otahuhu to Mangere Bridge buoy. Turn around - finish.

Okahu Bay: Lash canoes & Registration (waka can be left at beach Friday night)

Safety Check Requirements - Spray Skirts (recommended)

Buoyancy tubes x2 or life jackets x6.  Bailers x2 per canoe

Auckland Rowing Club (Ian Shaw Park):  Each team to organise own waka trolley or single axle trailer for road parade.

Trolleys or trailers must be dropped of at Panama Rd estuary (Auckland Rowing Club) ready for waka's arrival after first leg of race (Okahu Bay to Auckland Rowing Club).   Parade begins. 

 

1.30pm

Waka arrive at Railway Lane, Otahuhu for Mangere Bridge.   Re-launch waka's and race to finish (buoys will mark finish line at Mangere Bridge).

 

2.30pm

Arrival of all waka's at Mangere Bridge Reserve

Welcoming mihi from Tainui.

 

3.00pm

Prize giving / Lunch and enjoy the entertainment.   Great day for the whole family!
