Opening of New Coastal Walking Tracks

Beautiful new coastal walking tracks are set to open in time for summer and Puketapapa Local Board is inviting residents to celebrate.

Come to Waikowhai Park on Saturday 3 December from 2pm to 4pm to enjoy a free BBQ, relax to some music, take a tour along one of the new tracks and meet your local board members.

The new walkways will link with older tracks, with the aim of creating a continuous walking path along the Manukau Harbour coastline.

Puketapapa Local Board Chair Richard Barter says these tracks will be a jewel in the crown of the area and he hopes people will enjoy them.

"They offer a fantastic way to relax and unwind, and provide a great free recreational activity for families in the area," says Mr Barter.

The walkways, which can be accessed from Waikowhai Reserve, Hillsborough Cemetery and Cape Horn Road, weave through bush and reserves, along cliff tops and over bridges and waterways.
